Musarat Raza Freelance Community Visual Artist graduated in 2003 at the University of Huddersfield with a 2:1 in BSc Hons Textile Design. She began freelancing as a community artist in 2004 for Bradford Museums & Galleries on a Textile community project. In 2005 she secured herself a part time job with the Museum service as a Museums Officer - Communities & Outreach and continued her work as a freelance artist working for various organisations in West Yorkshire and beyond.
Musarat has over 7 years of experience working in schools & community settings. Her specialist area is textile, delivering workshops and accredited courses in various textile mediums – Embroidery, Molar, Applique, Tie and dye, Batik, Silk painting, Devore, Lino printing and many more. She also delivers craft based workshops - felt making, glass painting, card making, mosaic work and many others.
Musarat works with all age groups and abilities and has extensive experience of working with elderly groups, people suffering from mental health, youth groups, disability groups and working in Primary & Secondary schools. She is also an Arts award advisor, trained in Bronze, Silver & Gold and has successfully taken many young people through their arts award.
