Jasdeep Singh Degun is a young and upcoming Sitarist born and raised in Leeds, UK. Having studied Indian Classical vocals from a young age, Jasdeep started learning the Sitar at the late age of 15. He has acquired a deep insight into the art of Indian Classical music and continues to do so with his teacher, Ustad Dharambir Singh MBE.
Jasdeep has had the opportunity to perform in many high profile venues such as the Queen Elizabeth hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, the Manchester Bridgewater and many more. Jasdeep has also collaborated with many orchestras such as the National Youth Orchestra and Aldeburgh Young Musicians. Recently, Jasdeep took part in a BBC2 Documentary and performed at Buckingham Palace for HRH Prince Harry as part of Goldie’s Band. As a result of these collaborations, Jasdeep has developed a well rounded sense of musicality and sensitivity towards other styles of music
During the Christmas period, Jasdeep was lucky enough to spend two months in India, learning from the Sitar Maestro Ustad Shujaat Khan. British Sitarist Roopa Panesar has also had an enormous influence on Jasdeep over the last 6 months acting as his Sitar mentor.
