Concerts - Giuliano Modarelli and Upneet Singh

Originally from Italy, Giuliano Modarelli is a virtuosic guitarist unique in his style. During his early musical training and throughout his research and experience, he has explored many different genres of music leading him to develop a unique, hybrid style which is now instantly recognisable in his sound. Giuliano is a guitarist of modern times.

Having studied Jazz at University, he went on to develop through the Indian Classical tradition and his unique and exceptionally innovative style is a subtle blend of Arabic, Flamenco, Latin and European Folk. His breadth of knowledge and soulful improvisation make for compelling listening and viewing.

From live performance, improvisation and collaboration to soundtrack creation for film and theatre, Giuliano continues his journey into innovative and eclectic excellence.

Upneet Singh is a gifted, young Tabla player who began learning at the tender age of 5.  He is from a musical family and was born and brought up in England.

He has learnt from many maestros and has become a disciple of the late Pt Sharda Sahai of the Benaras tradition. Upneet has performed in many prestigious venues across the UK. Upneet has been a key member of the national South Asian music orchestras SAMYO and Tarang, Upneet has been involved with many projects both as a soloist and as part of an ensemble combining music from all around the world.

He currently performs as part of the Singhstrings ensemble alongside his father and brothers Surmeet and Kaviraj and with Indo-Irish group Milun.
