Take one early summer’s evening, two internationally renowned dancers and two dance forms originating in India, mix thoroughly and presented to the cosmopolitan city of Leeds. The outcome was a double bill of dance to enthrall the SAA-uk audience during the month of May.
Padmashree Dr Ileana Citaristi is a highly respected dancer, writer and educationist who made the choice to move to Orissa from Europe in order to immerse herself in the art of Odissi dance and Chhau dance of Mayurbhanji. She shared with the audiences the sensual art, shapes and movement unique to Odissi dance.
Canadian born Kiran Phull, is an up and coming Kathak Dancer and presented two pure classical pieces and two contemporary pieces choreographed to music by the Toronto Tabla Ensemble
