For SAA-uk's third Summer Solstice we invited the audience to join us for an all-night extravaganza of music, the only one of its kind in the UK taking place in heart of Leeds. A night when Internationally acclaimed artists of Indian classical music gathered to share music of the mind, body and soul, deeply imbedded in Rāgs of the sunset, night, dawn and sunrise.
The sunset drew on the delicate sound of the Santoor by Ustad Harjinderpal Singh and lead us onto the romantic recital by Ramprapanna Bhattacharya on Sitar. Surjeet Singh on Sarangi stirred our souls in the midnight hour and lead us into the dramatic Pakhavaj of Awad Pratap Balasaheb, as we beckoned the dawn.
The powerful Dhrupad voice of Uday Bhawalkar ji allowed us to immerse ourselves in the moment and prepare for sunrise of a new day.
