Events - World On Our Doorstep - East to West, from China to India and back

This year we are taking part in the first World On Our Doorstep festival, celebrating the musical heritage and diversity of Leeds in a long weekend of music from around the world.

The festival will be on from Friday the 28th to Sunday the 30th of September, and it includes live music and workshops happening in various venues in Chapel Allerton. For more information follow the link:

Join us on a musical journey from East to West on Saturday the 29th of September: travel with music from across the expanse of Asia, in an afternoon of traditional music and familiar cinema songs with a twist.

• 2pm - 2.45pm Sounds from beyond the Great Wall

Following from her performance at this year's Summer Series in Millennium Square, Xiaoxiao Hou will present a mix of traditional and contemporary Chinese music on the Guzheng (Chinese Zither).

• 3pm - 3.45pm Chai with Lata

We invite everyone to reminisce about the memorable award-winning songs from Indian Cinema, originally sung by the Queen of Melody Lata Mangeshkar, celebrating her 89th birthday on the 28th of September. The songs will be presented by the delightful Sumana Basu.
